SPOTLIGHT ON NEW TECHNOLOGY 2017

TECHNI A/S receives the 2017 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Spotlight on New Technology Award® for its B-Annulus Monitoring System (BAMSE).

OTC recognizes innovative thinking and showcases the latest and most advanced technologies that are leading the industry into the future.

Annular pressure buildup is a challenge in producing wells and can in some cases, if not monitored and managed correctly, result in catastrophic well integrity events such as inner casing collapse or outer casing burst. This is particularly challenging for subsea wells and there are a number of industry regulations in development that will require monitoring of B-annulus pressure.

Statoil contracted TECHNI to develop a robust and reliable B-annulus monitoring technology. – TECHNI has been working on the BAMSE system for a number of years and a number of different technologies were evaluated and found to have inadequate robustness, reliability or responsiveness, says Dag Almar Hansen, CEO of TECHNI. He continues: – We developed a solution that allows for monitoring of B-annulus pressure that is entirely passive with no electronics or moving parts in the inaccessible B-annulus.

The innovative wireless and electronic-less pressure and temperature technology developed for BAMSE are also being considered for a number of other applications.
